At Stronger You for Life, we don’t believe in “perfect” poses. We believe in movement that makes life easier. Lynne is one of our yoga experts, bringing years of experience and a fun, approachable energy to every session.
About Lynne
For almost 30 years, Lynne has lived with osteoarthritis, but she refuses to let a diagnosis dictate her mobility and remains super fit – cycling everywhere and typically starting her day with a cold-water swim. She’s had injections in her joints and years of physiotherapy, but the one thing that all the experts tell her and something she lives by is to keep moving. It’s the key to maintaining your mobility and to trying to slow down the arthritis.
Well into her 60s, Lynne credits her active lifestyle to her unwavering commitment to yoga, plus resistance training and swimming. Mixing it up with a variety of exercise forms and maintaining consistency is key for her. She really does demonstrate that consistent movement and maintaining strength is the ultimate tool for joint longevity.
Yoga at Stronger You
You don’t need to be “good” at yoga to start. In fact, most people start because they feel stiff or tired. Lynne’s skill lies in meeting you exactly where you are, whether your goal is to stay agile for your sport, keep up with the grandkids, or simply maintain your independence. Yoga is also good for your mental health and Lynne teaches breathing techniques that you can bring into your daily life.
Why it works
What truly sets Lynne apart is the quality of her teaching. She isn’t just calling out poses; she’s guiding you through a deliberate progression that transforms how you move. Over time, you’ll find yourself:
- Better toned: Supporting your muscle mass so you stay strong for the long haul
- More energised: Leaving the mat with a physical and mental “lift”
- With increased flexibility and balance: Building the stability you need for walking, gardening, and daily life.
The perfect partner to resistance training
If you use weights or resistance bands to keep your muscles and bones strong, Lynne’s classes are the perfect complement. While resistance training builds the power, yoga provides the mobility and recovery. It ensures that the strength you’re building doesn’t come at the cost of stiff joints or limited range of motion.
The cherry on the cake
The physical work is only half the story. The hallmark of a session with Lynne is how it concludes. After the work is done, she reads a poem – a moment of quiet reflection that serves as the “cherry on the cake.” It’s this final touch that leaves you feeling calm, grounded, and ready to face the world.
She often shares words like these from L.R. Knost to keep things in perspective:
“Life is amazing. And then it’s awful. And then it’s amazing again. And in between the amazing and the awful its ordinary and mundane and routine.
Breathe in the amazing, hold on through the awful, and relax and exhale during the ordinary. That’s just living a heartbreaking, soul-healing, amazing, awful, ordinary life. And it’s breathtakingly beautiful.”
Move well, live better
Under Lynne’s expert eye, you’re doing more than just stretching; you’re maintaining the body and the mind you need to keep doing what you love. Through the amazing, the awful, and the ordinary, we’re here to help you stay a Stronger You for Life.
